Relays used in modern automation systems. They can be used to control all types of single-phase receivers. Compared to traditional electromagnetic relays or contactors, they offer much wider possibilities. Advantages:- long switching life (no contacts) - fast operation (below 10ms) - switching of heavy loads (power on at zero crossing) - resistance to shocks, vibrations and dust (no moving parts, the system is encapsulated in resin in a solid housing ) - no arc on the contacts and noiseless operation The disadvantages include the need to use heat sinks at full load.
Typical applications:- electric and induction furnaces - processing of plastics (injection molding machines, thermoforming, packaging machines) - incubators, dryers - incandescent and halogen lighting - motors, fans
It is an excellent solution for automation systems that require high switching frequency (e.g. precise temperature controlin the plastics industry). When selecting the relay, the following should be taken into account: - load voltage - load current - control signal - type of load (with inductive load, start-up current should be taken into account)
